6.1.2 DOMESTIC MAIL — AIRMAIL, BALLOON- AND ZEPPELIN MAIL

From January 1929 until April 1933, the Polish Post in Gdańsk used a boxed dual purpose SAMOLOTEM handstamp indicating the need for air forwarding and the requisite airmail fee. No special airmail stamps were printed for the Polish Post in Gdańsk and the airmail fee could be paid with Polish airmail stamps, normal Port Gdańsk stamps or in cash. From June 1929 until June 1935, the Polish Post in Gdańsk put a single-line handstamp NADESZŁA POCZTĄ LOTNICZĄ (forwarded by airmail) on all mail that arrived by airmail at the Polish Post Office.

WARSZAWA 19 PORT LOTNICZY b arrival cds 8.1.1929 from the Warszawa airport Post Office and a boxed Nadeszła pocztą lotniczą from the same Post Office. 25 groszy for the letter and 25 groszy for air transport.
Below: Printed matter sent by airmail from Warszawa to Gdańsk, airmail forwarding endorsement handstamp NADESZŁA POCZTĄ LOTNICZĄ. For reasons unknown 30 groszy postage due was raised. Written annotations on the reverse that the address Heveliusplatz 5 did not exist and they could not Pind the addressee on the Stadtgraben either. The postage due was invalidated with a red cross and the cover was sent back (ZWROT) to Warszawa. There for the second time 30 groszy postage due was raised. WARSZAWA 19 PORT LOTNICZY c cds 2.8.33, POLSKI URZĄD POCZTOWO-TEL. GDAŃSK 1 u arrival cds 2.8.33 on the reverse and POLSKI URZĄD P.-T. NQ 1 GDAŃSK k 2.8.33 on the reverse and on the front on the Dostage due stamp.
