The Whole Nine Yards make their appearance,
again with Michel Nr. 181 as the four 1923 airs are caught in Mid-printing by Deflation (See DR-144).
But first we shall look at a recap of the first of the fifteen Free City stamps, thru the eyes of an exellent source, 'Gibbons Stamp Magazine', sent in by Earl Toops, who is stationed in the UK.

Danzig existed in its own right philatelically for just less than 20 years, but during that time the various stamps and related items it issued were keenly sought by collectors.
A glance at the catalogue shows that overprints were a very common feature of Danzig stamps, particularly in the early years from 1920 to 1923.

*- This first stamps of Danzig were issued in 1921 and consisted of overprints on German stamps (SG 1/15a).
*- Further overprinted stamps, incluiding surcharges, appeared until the 1921 'Consitutio' issue.

With the end of inflation in 1923, the already-printed sheets of stamps with their inflation figures required a cover-up of the old values by, at first, the Postdruckerei Danzig, located in the old Postdirektion building on the Winterplatz. The first group of regular stamps that were over-printed after being imprinted with their inflation figures are shown below;
