Considerable damage was inflicted upon all but the remaining brick walls, as can be seen from the photos. Even the bell tower of St. Katherine had been burned out and not rebuilt at the time the "after" photo was made in 1965.

Historical books on architecture were scarce in Gdansk last year, but one that was found describing historic structures was Hanna Domanska’s Sladami Gdanskich Zabytkow, beautifully illustrated with freehand line drawings - but written in Polish. Fortunately, our good member Wojciech Kruczkowskj volunteered to help, and his translation follows on Page 4.
