Figure 6b shows a larger-style handstarnp which I have observed on civilian mail. Covc’rs and cards with these handstamps will often, in addition, carry a single-line date cancellation. The earliest that I’m aware of is 199..39. These single-line postmarks will, in some instances, record September as SE.

The cover at Figure 7 has a single-line Postamt Gotenliafen, in addition to the (klingen. There is no date of any kind on (lie cover, but it is probably posted on September 19, 21 or 22. This cancelling device is the first to use the word Golenhafen. (Figure 8]
