2.1 THE POSTAL AND TELEGRAPHIC MANAGEMENT OFFICE
In January 1920 the Polish Ministry for Post and Telegraphs established in Gdańsk the DYREKCJA POCZT I TELEGRAFÓW NA POMORZE (Postał and Telegraphic Management Office for Pomorze) to reorganise the postał service in the Pomorze area, that had been taken over from the German post. Kazimierz Lenartowicz was appointed the director.
Above: Official postcard (Sprawa pocztowa — Postsache) sent by the Postal and Telegraphic Management Office for Pomorze in Gdańsk to Starogard. DANZIG 1 t cds 16.6.20 next to the imprinted stamp, which was not accepted. No postage due was raised in Poland because the card was considered as official mail from the Post, which was free of charge.The card was forwarded to Chojnice from were it was returned to sender on 19 June. CHOJNICE 1 cds 19.6.20. On 21 June the card returned to the offices of the Postal Management, where it was registered under number 145/20.
Below: Local letter sent by the Postal and Telegraphic Management Office for Pomorze to the Polish Railway Management in Gdańsk. The words obecnie w Gdańsku were removed from the handstamp. DANZIG 1t cds 24.09.20. 40 Pfennig for a local letter.
