5 THE MAIN POST OFFICE

5.2.4 DOMESTIC MAIL - TELEGRAPH SERVICES

At about the end of August 1929 special handstamps with a
number in a circle were introduced to denote the particular
courier who delivered the telegram in the city. Numbers 1 to 6
are known

Rp-telegram (with paid reply) for 2,75 złoty
sent from Kaczory to Danzig on 27 August
1929. Single-line GDAŃSK, a telegram
courier handstamp ③ and a special label
used in the telegraph office to seal the
telegram.

15 May 1931. Counterfoil for a telegram with 10 words sent from Danzig to Warszawa. 50 groszy
basic fee and 10 words of 15 groszy each gives a total of 2,00 złoty. This was recalculated into 1,08
Gulden to which 5 pfennig courier fee was added. Both Free City gulden and Polish złoty were
accepted for payment at the Polish Post in Danzig. POLSKI URZĄD P.-T. No 1 GDAŃSK e cds.
