2 THE HARBOUR POST OFFICE

2.1 THE EXCHANGE OF MAIL WITH OVERSEAS COUNTRIES

Based on the UPU Convention signed in Rome on the 26
May 1906 already on 1 December 1921 the unilateral
transport of mail from Great Britain to Poland through the
port of Danzig was opened. On 1 November 1922 both
Postal Administrations introduced the mutual exchange of
parcels between Poland and Great Britain and Ireland. From
Exchange Post Office Gdańsk No 1 mail was sent to the
Exchange Post Office in Hull and later also to London.
