2 THE HARBOUR POST OFFICE

2.2 THE TRANSIT OF MAIL FROM OTHER COUNTRIES

The Polish post also signed an agreement with the postal administration of Latvia to transport mail through the Danzig harbour to the USA. Probably this was done because of the regular connection between Danzig and the USA through different shipping companies. A handwritten Ł was obligatory to indicate that the parcel came from Latvia but was not always applied.
