Postal Stationery Catalog. . . Free City of Danzig
1 Mark 100 Pfennig. Beginning 1 Nov. 1923, 1 Danzig Gulden = 100 Pfennig.
Thru the Versailles Treaty, Danzig was separated from the German Empire and became a self-supporting Free City.
Of special note is that the Postal Cards of the Deutsche Reich had the same postage charges as long-distance rates within the Free City of Danzig. Likewise, special rates to Poland existed, so that postal cards were printed in tokens of value for the international service to Germany. Postage to Poland was always overfranked!
