>> Praust Mystery Resolved
The 1921 note from Margaret Klindt to Dr. Walter Model that cleared up the mystery of so many Praust I cards and covers sent to the same address. This gentleman was a lawyer (jur) and possibly a Doctor of Laws (LL. D., Doktor beider Rechte). Dr. Model lived on an estate ( Domne Berge) in an affluent area of Potsdam, and Danzig philately seemed to be one of his interests. Miss Klindt’s “Rosetta Stone” reads thusly:
Praust, ‘the 7th of June, 1921
Dear Doctor,
Some new stamps have made their appearance. Today, I happened to be at the main post office in Danzig, and I have bought a set of the new stamps and am sending them to you on five regitered covers. Hope this is OK with you. We have as yet no new stamps in Praust. Some singles are somewhat damaged, but it cannot be helped. Should you have absolutely no use of them, please notify me and I will make restitution. I received the 23 Mark funds; for that, thanks. This set cost l0 Mk 55 Pfg. You, therefore, still owe me 5Marks. There is no hurry in covering this debt.
