3 THE POLISH HUGHES TELEGRAPH STATION
3.1 THE SENDING OF OFFICIAL TELEGRAMS
Counterfoils for telegrams, which were retained by the telegraph station as a record of the
main details of the transmission, were cancelled with an official seal of the Polish
diplomatic representative. Furthermore from September 1927 a POLSKI URZĄD P.-T. No
1 GDAŃSK h datestamp was used. In February 1929 this datestamp was replaced by a
smaller type POLSKI URZĄD POCZT.-TELEGR. GDAŃSK 1 g. Although both
datestamps had the inscription GDAŃSK 1, indicating the main Post Office at the
Heveliusplatz, they were actually used in the building of the Polish diplomatic
representative.
