The Artushof: Home of the NSDAP?

Well, yes and no! You may recall D.R.35 (June ‘82) - — with its cover photo showing Josef Goebbels plus entourage leaving a building decorated with Nazi flags and slogans. Since 1988, we have searched for the final headquarters of the NSL)AP in Danzig, starting with the Hundgasse location, which was listed on some covers from D.R.28. From there to the Jopengasse, then a clue in a Polish photo book Dawny Gdansk showing a Portal Sieni Gdanskiej Dhigiin Thrg 43. 1942. This looked as if it could be the building shown in the earlier 1)110(0. We knew that the Dlugi Targ and Langer Markt are tile same, so we looked there with photo in hand. Surprisingly, the subject turned out to be right next door (east) of the Artushof! And it was the same building that tile Polish Philatelic Society held our reception last year. Just past June, we were able to sneak another view of the Anus and its auxiliary building iiext door. In these photos are _postcard photo, B building in its heyday, C Betty Bloecher heading for the portal in 1994. It’s been found.
