2.1 THE EXCHANGE VERSEAS COUNTRIES

On 1 December 1923 the Polish Post Office in Danzig ceased the system of preparing individual parcel cards for parcels arriving from the USA. Instead, the small labels with the table for calculating postage due were simply pasted onto one of the two Customs declarations that were made for each parcel by the American Post Offices.

6 May 1924. Label for a parcel sent to Rozdziele Dolne, close to Bochnia in Mało Polska. POLSKI URZĄD POCZTOWY No 1 GDAŃSK a transit cds, a single-line oclone (cleared by the customs) and a TARNÓW 2a cds 31 May 1924 of the Customs Post Office. 25 groszy postage due was calculated for transport and 2,70 złoty for customs handling. ŻEGOCINA K/ BOCHNI a cds 21 June 1924 on postage due stamps with a total value 300.000 marks,
which were used at the rate 10.000 marks = 1 grosz after 1 May 1924. A mistake was made here: 2.950.000 marks should have been used instead of only 300.000!

7 March 1925. Label for a parcel sent to Czernelica. POLSKI URZĄD POCZTOWY No 1 GDAŃSK b transit cds and PRZEMYŚŁ I 5a with a wrong date 12 March 1924 of the Customs Post Office. 1,90 złoty postage due was calculated: 25 groszy for transport, 30 groszy for packing and 1,35 złoty for Customs handling. CZERNELICA a arrival cds 15 March 1925. A bisected 3.000.000 mark postage due stamp on the front (1.500.000 mark is 1,50 zloty) together with a 300.000 mark (30 groszy) and a 10 groszy stamp on the reverse cancelled CZERNELICA a 16 March 1925.
