5.1.2 DOMESTIC MAIL – POSTAL SERVICES
Postcards should be made from card
board or strong, stiff paper to make sure
that it was possible to make all postal
handling possible. Post cards had to be
sent open, this means without an
envelop or wrapper. The right half of the
address side was dedicated to the
address of the recipient and any postal
markings or labels.
7 August 1930. Postcard sent from
Danzig to poste restante Toruń with the
commemorative datestamp used by the
Polish Post in Danzig for the occasion of
the international tourism exhibition in
Poznań. TORUŃ 1g arrival cds 7 August
and a TORUŃ 1m 8 August on postage
due stamps covering the 10 groszy fee
for poste restante that had to be paid by
the recipient at the moment of collecting.
20 April 1928. Polish postal stationery
card sent from Danzig to Kielce. On 1
December 1927 the postage for postcards
had been raised from 10 to 15 groszy.
Therefore a 5 groszy Port Gdańsk stamp
was added.
