Printed matter
Picture postcards with regards or post cards
with wishes or thanks for Easter, Christmas or
New Year with a maximum of five words (not
counting the date and signature(s) could be
sent according to the postal rate for printed
matter. Any other picture postcards or
postcards with wishes had to be paid for as
postcards.
5 June 1938. Picture postcard with a message
less than five words sent from Danzig to
Poznań with the commemorative datestamp
used by the Polish Post in Danzig during the
All-Polish singers’ meeting that took place in
Danzig from 4 until 6 June. 5 groszy postage
according to the postal rate for printed matter.
11 August 1926. Picture postcard sent from
Danzig to Konstantynów. From 15 April to
31 August 1926 in Poland an additional one
grosz was levied on each sending to support
the unemployed. The sender, a tourist,
appears to have been unaware that the extra 1
grosz was not obligatory in Danzig. 10 groszy
for a picture postcard with a message of more
than 5 words.
24 December 1931. Picture postcard sent from
Danzig to a boatswain at the cadets’ school of
the Polish Navy in the Gdynia naval base with
a POLSKI URZĄD POCZTOWY GDAŃSK 2
cds. The cadet could not be found in Gdynia
and the card was sent from Gdynia to the
cadets’ school in Toruń on 28 December. In
Toruń the cadet could not be found as well
and the card was sent back again to Gdynia 1
on 29 December. There was noted on the card
that the cadet could be found on the ORP
Generał Haller gunboat or on a submarine
(Łódż Podw.). 15 groszy for a picture postcard
with a message of more than 5 words.
