5.1.2 DOMESTIC MAIL – POSTAL SERVICES

Printed matter covered a wide range of
different sendings. Printed matter could
not contain any ongoing personal
correspondence or bear any marks,
underlining or other characteristics which
could indicate personal correspondence or
made considerable changes of the original
text. It could be sent in the form of cards
or, for instance, in a wrapper, roll or in an
open envelop. Basic requirement was that
the contents could be checked easily.

5 May 1931Ordering card for a book sent
from Danzig to Kraków. Originally the
card was marked Kartka Pocztowa for
which 15 groszy should have been paid.
But the inscription was changed into
Zamówienia księgarski which could be
sent as printed matter for just 5 groszy.
A death circular sent as printed matter
from Danzig to Tarnów.

24 October 1934. Magazine wrapper for ‘der Holzexport’
sent from Danzig to Grudziądz. 15 groszy for printed
matter between 50 and 100 gram.
