The Postal Savings
Bank (Pocztowa Kasa
Oszczędności - P.K.O.)
was a state credit
institution for which all
Post Offices and Post
Agencies functioned as
collection center.
Deposits at a post check
account could be made
with help of a P.K.O.
deposit form (blankiet
nadawczy). The form
consisted of three parts:
the confirmation for the
payer (potwierdzenie dla
wpłacającego), the proof
of deposit (dowód
wpłaty) which the
recipient received and
the proof of registration
(dowód wpisu) which
stayed at the P.K.O.
27 February 1932. Postal savings form - Part for the payer.
23,50 złoty was paid onto a PKO account in Grudziądz.
19 June 1933. Postal savings form - Part for the
recipient. 263,91 złoty was paid onto a PKO
account.
The owner of a post check account could use all the
money on his account by using checks. In case the amount
of the check had to be paid out to the addressee at a post
office an order check (czek przekazowy) had to be issued.
12 March 1928. Part for the recipient of an order check of
173,57 złoty paid to the account of the Polish Railway
Management in Danzig.
15 December 1936. Proof of payment for a COD parcel. 21,68 złoty was paid in Krotoszyn onto a P.K.O.
account in Danzig. A 10 groszy fee was calculated initially for a normal transfer up to 50 złoty. In the end,
however, 40 groszy was charged (postage due stamp on the back) for a COD transfer between 20 and 50
złoty.
