5.1.2 DOMESTIC MAIL – POSTAL SERVICES

Insured letters (listy
wartościowe) could contain
banknotes, coins or valuable
papers and should be marked
as such by the sender
indicating the value on the
address side of the envelope.
On the sending the postal
employee had to write the
number of the sending, the
weight and the postage.

12 April 1938. Insured letter
with a value of 30 złoty sent
from Danzig to Magierów.

postage: 50 groszy for a letter
between 20 and 50 gram, 30
groszy for registration and 10
groszy minimum insurance
fee.

13 February 1937. Insured letter with a value of 2.000 złoty sent from Danzig to Nowe Miasto. POLSKI URZĄD P.-T. GDAŃSK 1 k cds
and a purple handstamp indicating the number of the sending, the weight of 31,5 gram and 1 złoty and 15 groszy postage, which was to be
paid in cash. NOWE MIASTO N/NOTĘCA d arrival cds 17 February 1937. 50 groszy for a letter between 20 and 50 gram, 30 groszy for
registration and 35 groszy insurance fee for a value of 2.000 złoty (7 times 5 groszy per 300 złoty).
