5 THE MAIN POST AND TELEGRAPH OFFICE
5.1.2 DOMESTIC MAIL – POSTAL SERVICES
The Post offered several types of
additional services. These services
included, among others, registration,
express delivery, airmail transport
and proofs of posting, delivery and
receipt.
Registration (polecony) of letter
mail gave the sender the guarantee
of delivery of mail to the addressee.
Registered mail was handed over to
the addressee who had to sign for
receipt. The sender had the right to
request a compensation in case a
registered piece of mail was lost.
4 February 1925. Letter sent
registered from Danzig to Toruń.
15 groszy for the letter and 20
groszy for registration.
8 February 1938. Registered letter sent by the Polish Post Office Gdańsk 1 to Gdynia. 50 groszy for a second rate letter and 30 groszy for registration.
