5.1.2 DOMESTIC MAIL – POSTAL SERVICES

A proof of receipt - return receipt
(zwrotne poświadczenie odbioru) could be
requested by the sender of registered letter
mail, insured mail, parcels and postal or
telegraphic money transfers. In such case
the sender received the proof of receipt
that had been signed by the recipient at the
moment the mail was delivered or the
money was paid to him. The fee for the
proof of receipt was included in the letter
fee paid by the sender, the proof of receipt
was returned as official mail sent free of
charge. (Sprawa służbowa wolna od opłaty
pocztowej)

11 March 1938. Proof of receipt sent from
Danzig to Starogard. A postal form for
internal mail was used.

24 September 1937. Proof of receipt
sent from Danzig to Gdynia. A
bilingual Polish – French postal form
for foreign mail was used although
traffic between Poland and the Polish
Post in Danzig was treated as internal
mail.

Companies or institutions were allowed to
issue their own proof of receipt forms as
long as the contents did not differ from the
forms issued by the Post.

9 November 1937. Proof of receipt sent
from Siedlce to Danzig. A form privately
issued by the British and Polish Trade
Bank in Danzig was used.
