5.1.2 DOMESTIC MAIL – POSTAL SERVICES
A proof of delivery
(dowód doręczenia) could
be attached to the letter by
the sender. The proof of
delivery was signed by the
postal employee at the
moment of delivering the
letter to the recipient. The
proof of delivery was after
that sent back to the sender
free of postage because the
fee for returning had been
included in the letter fee
paid by the sender.
Companies or institutions
were allowed to issue their
own proof of delivery
forms as long as the
contents did not differ from
the forms issued by the
Post.
8 January 1929. Proof of
delivery issued by the
Polish Post sent from
Danzig to the local Court in
Starogard.
1 November 1930. Proof of
delivery sent from Danzig to the
Vojevodships’ office in Toruń. The
form was issued by the
Vojevodships’ office.
