Red Door – Czerwone Drzwi Restaurant

Czerwone Drzwi – Red Door is a causy and tastefully furnished restaurant located in the vestibula of a 17th century style burgher house in the old Town of Gdansk close to St. Mary’s Basilica

The RED DOOR – Czerwone Drzwi RESTAURANT is situated in the heart of the Old Town of Gdańsk between St. Mary’s Basilica and the Armoury, in a charming street lined up with 17th century style houses with porches. The porch with the biggest granite spheres leads to the catchy door painted in red. Czerwone Drzwi means red door in English. In its original version the restaurant room used to be a 6.5 m high vestibule. Today with an old wooden floor, a sideboard dating back to the beginning of the previous century and a one hundred year old piano from Copenhagen our restaurant gives you a nostalgic feeling of the middle-class interior of the past ages. In the evening life music in the candlelight adds to the atmosphere of warmth and cosiness. The restaurant offers room for 30 Guests and in summer there is extra space for ten persons in the porch. We are also thinking of building a mezzanine in the future. Though leisurely styled Czerwone Drzwi is a place with much attention paid to details: food is served on genuine china, in winter we always have a four-meter high adorably decorated Christmas tree and in summer there are always fresh flowers in it. Sophisticated accessories, mirrors and elegantly framed paintings make the interior into a parlour of the past centuries. Our menu is diversified – full of delicious and interesting foods. Besides specialities of the local cuisine like herring, Baltic salmon with apple pancakes, choice of Polish pates or famous Polish dumplings we serve dishes from distant journeys: tagiatelle, lamb chops and beef steak French style. Our menu varies as we always look for new foods. However, our Guests’ favourite meals like trout from oven with green parsley are always in the list.
