FLOREX ‘80 Provided an exceptionally good time for all who attended. One of the joys at these conventions is to see those with whom we’ve corresponded but haven’t seen for a long time. Included in the Danzig Study Group meeting were Gene Marshall, John Kovalski, Werner Bohne, Bud Hennig, S.M. Lutz, W.E. Odge, Bob Adams and Bob Welky. The meeting was quite constructive and you can look forward to seeing results in future Reports !

R. K. Mickey’s excellent article on Polish Offices in Danzig is enclosed, and I would direct your attention to some questions that he raised on another subject: *Does anyone have covers from Danzig during the Russo-Polish War of 1920, involving the following ships dated July, Aug. or early Sept. 1920, USS Pittsburgh (cruiser), USS Mars (collier); merchant ships SS North Pine, SS Susquehanna, SS New Rochelle; British Navy: HMS Accra (Gunboat); French Navy: Gueydon (cruiser); French Merchantman Estella d’Anvers; Dutch Merchantman Triton. There was at least one other U.S.N. destroyer involved, but he can’t identify the name. Also of interest would be covers of the British and French occupation troops in Danzig. These all would be helpful in preparing an article on the subjects listed.

Thanks again to Mr. Mickey for his past work and we hope that the above will jog someone who has the answers.

Slogan cancels in Report No. 28 caused a stir in Germany and Herr Schüler has sent corrections to several errors by the Editor as well as an update of the original source.. Consider us up-to date (for now !), until another cover with a different date turns up. Also of interest is SchUler’s submittal of an unknown slogan cancel of 1941. Many thanks to Herr Schifler and Herr Rittmeister in setting the record straight.

Heinz Pauli met with Schüler in Hamburg and compared notes on No. 51, resulting in a number of new error discoveries that will be included in our forthcoming study.
