A Great Guy: Ephraim 'Duke' Day, 1950 - 2011.

The telephone rings, and the caller from Cheverly (even bofore announcing his name) begins, "It seems that . . . " and you know that Duke was on the line, beginning another of his rollicking jokes. One must agree with the Webster's American English Dictionary that the true definition of the word 'rollicking' is full good spirits, which explains, for the most part, what set aside Ephraim "Duke" Day from most folks known. He also became deeply interested in the things that meant the most to him - wife Regina and that fledgling philatelist-daughter, Elizabeth. It has been our good fortune to know him, and to have worked with such a personable character and his family.
Wheter it be the American Civil War, or an interest in "everything Danzig" Duke gave the subject everything that he had. From that years-ago encounter with a 'drug lord', who dragged Duke along a street with his car, while resisting arrest, to our friend's three-times-a-week painful visits to kidney dialysis, Duke was a fightern for right until his body could hold out no mare against his diabetes. Duke Day will long be remembered for many things, but many of us still expect to hear the words, "It seems that there was this Irishman . . . "

The Danzig publikation will never forget, since this issue (DR-152à is dedicated to our friend Duke, a GREAT GUY!
