DANZIG STUDY GROUP REPORT FROM GPS/BALPEX ‘75

As you know, the 26th National Convention of GPS was held over the Labor Day weekend at Hunt Valley, Md. From all reports, it was an excellent affair, both from the educational and the gemütlichkeit standpoint. Where else could a German philatelist fihd 20 hours of lectures, slide shows and study groups covering all phases of his hobby? The weekend was packed with an exhausting array of activities of every type. If you missed this show, plan to attend the Spring 1976 GPS meeting at INTERPHILA (Philadelphia International) from May 29 to June 6, as well as the 27th National Conventionat COMPEX (Chicago) on August 27-29th, just before the next BALPEX. You will be guaranteed a great experience.

Your Study Group met with 13 present on August 30 and included the following members George Blum (Flushing, NY), Amo Winard (Oxon Hill, Md), Del Meinung (La Mesa, Cal), Bud Hennig (Chicago) and the Editor. New members who signed up at the meeting: Peter Puidak (Alexandria, Va), Keith Stupell (NYC) and John Matschinegg (Chicago). John has volunteered to transcribe Bud’s translations from German, and another new friend, Emil Kolpack of New Jersey has already translated the Zepp-Post article. (It is at the “checker’s” to be sure that the original 1930 details were correct and should appear in the Nov. issue.) A member of the Baltimore chapter is working on the Postal History story. Still awaiting translation are short articles on Danzig catapult mail and Polish Post in the Free City. Any volunteers?

Everyone collecting Germany should have one, and we urge you to send $3.75 to: GPS Chapter 16, B. F. Sheppard Jr., 1230 Newfield Road, Baltimore, Md., 21207. You will have many hours of pleasant reading.
