The fortress at Weichselmunde,built in the 14th century. guarded the port at the harbor entrance.Destroyed by storms several times, it now displays a mixture of various architectural styles. Gothic. Renaissance and baroque clements can be traced here. From lighthouse to watch tower, the roof has evolved from this early design.

Typical attack by French on Danzig escarpment. Steep hillside made attack difficult, but Napoleon’s troops prevailed.
