Only 40% of each sheet was overprinted with the Saar trial proofs. Just 180 copies of the stamps were left with only the burlage and no numerals. Over the years, some of these copies reached the market, and some received certificates as having been over-printed for Danzig proofs. (See Figures 3 and 4.) Stamps with these erroneous certificates have been offered at DM1000, and more, at auctions. CAVEAT EMPTOR!
