8) Private reprints (so-called “Nachdrucke”):
The Danzig stamp dealer Woldemar Ruberg procured for himself, in the middle of 1933, the four original overprint cliches in strips of ten and then placed them in the middle of a Tiegeidruckpresse. Next were placed sheet sections set up to run, at the most, in 4 x 10 configurations. Born were Ruberg private “reprints”, considered as forgeries by most.

FIGURE 10 - Corner block of Rubergs “reprint’ using authentic overprint plates. The only way that these statnps can be determined to be Machwerk is by checking the plate positions of the overprints. Singly, these stamps appear genuine, a factor that has perplexed expertizers since (lie items appeared on the scene.
