BERNARD A. HENNIG, F.R.P.S.L.

On July 23, 1982, Bud Hennig and Hermanri Branz signed the Roll at B.P.F. Congress in Southhampton, England. Election to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists is the world’s pre-eminent philatelic honor, ahd now we heartily congratulate Bud on his achievement. The Roll was first instituted at the Philatelic Congress of Great Britain at Newcastle-on--Tyne in 1920 and was first signed at Harrogate in 1921 by King George V, as well as by 39 other world-renowned philatelists. Since 1921, a total of 241 have been elected, and the list represents philately’s Hall of Fame.

Bud Hennig’s devotion to his specialization of Danzig postal history is weJl known to all of us in the G.P.S. One cannot help but be impressed by seeing over one hundred albums of a single subject in one collection. It would be easy to be overwhelmed by the quantities of quality material if it weren’t for Bud’s unselfish willingness to explain everything patiently to visitors. Sharing philatelic knowledge is one quality that we have mentioned in the past, and Bud personifies that quality!

Karl Kniep, of the Arge Danzig, recently compiled a 28—page booklet titled Die poThische Hafenpost in Danzig, including PostgebUhren, Stempel & Besonderheiten. The cancels cover the period from 1920 thru 1934 and registry marks are also shown. We recommend Karl’s book to anyone specializing in Polish Post in Danzig.

After a couple of eye operations, we found it necessary to rely on magnifying glasses for specific purposes. One
