As step by step the German character is manifest throughhout the City of Danzig, even so may the unbendable will of her citizens be observed not to surrender their nationality or the high advantages of German culture which they have inherited. This determination can be traced in the methods oi education, 1:. scientific and local collections, in the cultural life of the city, in her theatre, in the encouragement of art and art collections, whose principal task it is to reflect the glorious artistic past of the City and to maintain in art the relationship with the motherland.
